Anya convinces an unsuspecting Willow to assist her with a spell that
will return her amulet and, with it, her Vengeance Demon powers. Willow, sensing something wrong with the magic, balks at the last minute and disrupts the spell. Instead of returning the amulet, the spell summons the vampire Willow from the alternate universe in "The Wish" and sets her loose in Sunnydale.

WILLOW: It's really nice that you guys missed me. Say, you all didn't happen to do a bunch of drugs, did ya?
Great character development, great dialogue and a good plot.
"Doppelgängland" is a success because of Willow. She's just wonderful. There are really four different incarnations of Willow in this episode and all of them are an absolute joy to watch. Vampire Willow, Real Willow, Real Willow pretending to be Vampire Willow and Vampire Willow pretending to be Real Willow. But, it's pretty easy to tell them apart, because of the way that they act. Vampire Willow beats up just about everyone she meets. Real Willow tapes "Biography" every night. Real Willow is uncomfortable in Vampire Willow's leather and platform boots. Vampire Willow cringes at Real Willow's fuzzy pink sweater. "This is like a nightmare." But then Angel insinuates that a person's vampire self is actually influenced by their human personality. Nice to know.

Buffy: Willow, just remember, a vampire's personality has nothing to do with the person it was.

Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered

Xander tries to use Valentine's Day to further his relationship with Cordelia, but she succumbs to peer pressure and breaks up with him. With the help of Amy (who is experimenting with her mother's magickal tricks), he puts a love spell on her which goes horribly wrong, turning him into every woman's desire... everyone's except the one who matters most.

Xander: I wish dating was like slaying. You know, simple, direct, stake to the heart, no muss, no fuss.
Buffy: Sorry to say, Xand, slaying is a tad more perilous than dating.
Xander: Well, you're obviously not dating Cordelia.
Solid character development, good dialogue and an amusing plot.
I don't have any real complaints about the episode. I really think that Spike makes some good points about Angel/us not killing Buffy. Teasing and tormenting her is just going to lead to trouble. Angel/us should know better, although he seems to prefer the long slow build up over expediency.
Not only is it one of the funnier episodes of the season upon first watching, but it accomplishes a lot. It moves Xander and Cordy's relationship along, it contributes to the bigger story arc, it continues Jenny and Giles relationship issues, it shows us a glimpse of Willow's dark side, it references Spike's love of poetry for the first time, and it reintroduces Amy and Harmony, who will play larger roles later on.
Amy has begun using magic just like her mother did. Among the spells Amy casts is the one which turns Buffy into a rat; Amy repeats this spell on herself in Gingerbread.
This episode marks the first of Xander's three break-ups in the series, each of which is then followed by a failed attempt at vengeance.
The much-used phrase "Big Bad" is introduced, when Buffy refers to Angel/us as the "big bad thing in the dark."
